Licenses and editions
What is free, what a key unlocks, and how to enter one in Home and in Server.

Home
Home is free within the limits above. A Home license lifts only the capacity limits (collections, entries, storage); it never unlocks encrypted collections or team features. Enter it in the app: the License button in the top bar (on the computer where Corexar runs) opens the window; paste the key and press Activate. Remove key goes back to the free limits.
Server
A Server key is set on the server, in the PLATFORM_LICENSE_KEY setting. The key is checked with the license server and works offline for seven days if that server cannot be reached; after that the installation falls back to the free limits until it can verify again. Administrators see the state in System Administration → License & Plan.
- A key is tied to an installation (a device), and the number of installations is limited. The installation’s identity is stored in its database, so recreating a container with the same database does not use up a slot.
- The owner of a license can see and release the devices of a key in the license account (account.corexar.tech).
- During the alpha, Pro and Enterprise keys are issued free of charge on request.
